Matoom Art Space is the gallery of Thai artist Chumpol Taksapornchai, known to friends as Khun Tua. It is a great example of what a local Thai gallery can really be. Extremely inviting, the gallery features some of Khun Tua’s latest work on constant rotation. The artist creates likeable paintings with themes of Buddhism running through them. His fantastical characters are painted in a soft style that works for large-scale canvas pieces, as well as more marketable items like postcards and gift tags. This winning combination makes his work accessible to a larger audience than most local artists.
