Located on Esplanade Avenue just bordering the French Quarter, Buffa’s Lounge makes for the perfect antidote to the crowds on Frenchmen Street and Bourbon Street. Swirling to music for over 75 years, Buffa’s looks and feels like an old dive bar with gaudy neon signs on the outside, and is a nice addition to the overall appeal of the place. It has two sections – the front is more of a bar area, but it’s at the back where music aficionados make a beeline. There’s a slightly raised platform which doubles as the stage in front of which are tables. The food menu runs to the usual burgers, breakfast, chicken wings, sandwiches, salads, and jambalaya. But people come here to listen to a long line up of jazz and other musicians such as the likes of Vanessa Carr, Tom McDermott, and Some Like it Hot.
