This is one of the most popular experiences on the island. If you are imagining a masterclass like kitchen, you are mistaken. The fresh scent of herbs tickles your nostrils as you walk into the cooking class in Bali. I took a class in one of the traditional rustic Bali homes right amidst nature. Walking around the gardens, I could see fresh herbs which were used in the cuisine. Ginger and turmeric are one of the most prominent spices that are used in the cooking. Some of these classes also include market and farm tours. Generally, traditional dishes are taught and they include vegetarian as well as meat and fish delicacies. Most of these classes give you an authentic experience of Bali besides an introduction to the culinary heritage. Ubud is one of my favourite areas to do a cooking class. These classes are held in different parts of Bali, and some of them do arrange for transfer.
