A completely captivating and colourful event of the city of Dusseldorf is the Karneval. The carnival is a traditional event that happens in the Rhenish cities of Dusseldorf, Mainz and Cologne. It usually begins in November on the 11th and goes on till the Ash Wednesday of the following year (falls usually between 4th February and 10th March). The highlight event is on Rosenmontag, as called locally. On this day, the entire city comes together to witness and to participate in the region’s greatest parade. The larger-than-life displays in the parade are generally based on themes picked from local or international affairs. Mostly, these are comical or satirical interpretations, giving everybody a chance to laugh and have fun.
Overall, it is a fun experience to watch the enthusiastic crowd and vibrant displays. If you happen to be in the city during the Karneval, then try to be a part of this gala celebration and enjoy with the locals!
