If you have had your fill of spirituality, Rameshwaram also has a bird sanctuary in the Ramanathapuram district that has native and migratory birds flocking in the shallow waters here. The best season to spot these birds is between October and January and this is the place where the birds from European countries and Australia breed. The native birds come here to feed. The Arichamunai Bird Sanctuary at Dhanushkodi, Kanjirankulam and Chittirankudi sanctuaries in Ramanathapuram are the best places to see these birds. The best time to sight the birds is in the early morning hours or in the evening. It is advisable that you carry a good pair of binoculars and a camera if you would like to capture images. However the sighting is seasonal so it is advisable to check with a local before you head out.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
