Spencer Plaza is not only Chennai’s largest shopping complex with around 400 shops, but also India’s oldest shopping mall. It was originally constructed in the late 19th century as a department store, and later, following a fire, rebuilt on the same site in 1985. It is is conveniently opposite the Vivanta by Taj – Connemara hotel, and now has stores by many prominent local and international brands.
