Trekking is a great activity that can help you unplug from your regular mundane life. The experience becomes all the more special when you are trekking in the Himalayas, and get to witness the grandeur of the majestic mountain ranges. If you like the idea, these weekend treks can help you rejuvenate yourself, and escape from the chaos of city life for a while. Check this out.
Nag Tibba
This is surely one of the best weekend treks from Delhi, situated around 10000 ft above the sea level. You will pass through dense forests of deodars and oak, wherein stunning views of Kedarnath peak, snow-covered Bandarpoonch peak, and the Gangotri peaks will grace your vision as you reach the Nag Tibba peak. Situated near Mussoorie, it is a trekker’s delight, and is the highest peak in the Nag Tibba range of the Garhwal Himalayas.
Benog Tibba
It is one of the lesser-known treks, and is worth every penny and effort. Touted as a perfect trek for beginners, it sits at an elevation of 2250 m, and is one of highest peaks in the Mussoorie region. It is a full day hike in the Mountain Quail Sanctuary, located on the western outskirts of Mussoorie, and the trek involves scenic forest walk, followed by adventurous zig zag climb to the Benog Hill peak, where a temple dedicated to Jwala Devi can also be found.
Triund
If you are a first-timer, this one should be your pick as it is comparatively easy as well as the most stunning treks in Himachal Pradesh. Situated in the lap of the Dhauladhar range in Dharamshala, the trek offers unparalleled views of snow-covered mountains. Many adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers visit this spot throughout the year.
Beas Kund
You will find this amazing trek just ahead of Manali, wherein the unmatched beauty of River Beas and the Beas Kund glacier will be the highlights of the trek. To undertake this trek, you will need a long weekend as you might require 3-4 days to complete this trek. As per the legends, sage Vyas used to bathe in the waters of the Beas Kund daily, and this is the spot from where the Beas river originates. It is popularly known to be one of the most beautiful short treks in Himachal Pradesh, and is full of small sparkling streams, lush green meadows, and snow-capped.
