The Sangetsar Lake is located about 30 kilometres in the north-east of Tawang, and visitors require a special permit from the District Commissioner's (DC) office located at Tawang to visit this lake. The Lake is one of the remotest high-altitude lakes in the country and is deeply revered by Buddhists. Formed after an earthquake hit the region in 1950, the lake has a picture-perfect Himalayan backdrop and ideal for photo-ops. There’s a cafeteria by the lakeside which is run by the Indian Army and serves basic snacks. The lake is a popular location for film shoots.
