When the canal was handed over to Panamanians, what also came with it were four islands of Naos, Culebra, Perico and Flamenco. Together they form the Amador Causeway right at the mouth of the Panama Canal on the Pacific side. All the four islands are connected by a 6-kilometre long causeway. This reclaimed land and the connecting causeway have been built by rocks, mud and soil extracted while excavating the construction site of the canal around a century ago. This place is part of the itinerary of many tourists coming to Panama. Along with taking in the beautiful views at the causeway, tourists also enjoy the variety of food served by the restaurants here.
