Often referred to as a cactarium, the Moorten Botanical Garden is home to over 3,000 desert cacti and other desert flora. Founded in 1938, the park has undergone a great deal of expansion and now spans across 4,000 square-metres. Situated towards the south of Palm Canyon Drive, the garden is designated as a part of Colorado Desert ecosystem. The comprehensive collection of cacti and other desert flora here include agaves, bombax, crested cereus, cardoon, thorned caesalpinia, bursera, boojum trees and over a dozen sub-species of aloe.
