It is difficult to have a bad meal in New Orleans and the overwhelming choice of Creole and Cajun cuisine, po’boys and fresh seafood is almost too good to toss up. But if you’re looking for a slight variation on the theme or even a change, then Port of Call is the place. Located on Esplanade Avenue in the French Quarter, the restaurant goes back over 50 years and is housed in a lovely old world building. The eatery specialises in burgers and steaks and dishes up some edgy cocktails as well with names such as Neptune’s Monsoon and Huma Huma. But burger fans can swoon over the simple burgers topped with succulent mushrooms and cheddar cheese. It’s served with decadent baked potato and piquant pickles. Steak aficionados swear by the filet mignon and the rib eye done to perfection.
