Done in Romanesque style, the Confederate Memorial Hall is a grand structure with gabled roof and pillars located in the city’s Warehouse District’ almost adjacent to the French Quarter. It houses an equally interesting collection of articles as part of the Confederate Hall Memorial Museum. It was set up in the late 19th century, and honours the rich and chequered military history of the South. Considered to be the oldest museum in Louisiana, it is also reputed to have the largest collection of confederate memorabilia in the country. Wandering around the stately building, visitors can see flags, weapons, uniforms, personal items, artefacts related to the confederacy, and also the changing special exhibitions. Tickets are priced at $8.
