The group, known as Sahyadri Shilledaar Prathisthaan, features 29 cops. It was formed just a year ago and comprises trekkers who go for clean-up drives within Maharashtra. The main aim of this nature-loving group is to spread the message of restoring the environment.
Between October 11 and 14, the group took the mission of cleaning the Kalsubai peak, the highest point in Maharashtra. They trekked 1646 m in three days and collected all the trash left there by ignorant tourists. This recent clean-up drive had four constables, four naiks, one assistant sub-inspector, three head constables and one assistant police inspector.
About Kalsubai peak
But recently, the beautiful spot has become crowded, chaotic and dirty. Tourists here had left behind a huge pile of trash that included plastic bottles, slippers, food wrappers, polyethene, and a lot of other filthy things. The group of cops decided to take matters in their hands and headed up to clean the trash.
Kalsubai trek is not that difficult and can be done easily. Monsoons are pretty crowded though as hundreds of trekkers visit here on weekends. When here, be mindful of the surroundings and nature.
