Sachkhand Gurudwara

The tenth spiritual master of Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh established Khalsa as the community of initiated Sikhs, established the religion's distinctive symbols such as the sword and uncut hair and ceased the practice of Guruship by declaring the Sikhism's holy book Granth Sahib as the eternal successor or the eternal Guru. As a warrior, Guru Gobind Singh and one of his famous disciples Banda Singh Bahadur are credited with leading successful campaigns against the Mughal tyranny. In the 19th century, Maharaja Ranjit Singh ordered the construction of this Gurudwara on the banks for river Godavari, where Guru Gobind Singh breathed his last. Sachkhand Sri Hazur Abchal Nagar Sahib is one of the five thrones of authority in Sikhism. This Gurudwara or the Sikh Temple in Nanded is popularly referred to as Sachkhand that is translated as The Realm of Truth.

This is the farthest of the places in this travel guide. But it is a must if you are interested to see the second holiest of places of Sikhism after the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Located 250 Kms south east of Aurangabad in Nanded, Sachkhand Sri Hazur Abchal Nagar Sahib is spread over a large area and its inner sanctum, called Angitha Sahib, is where Guru Gobind Singh was cremated.

Tip: Start early morning to be able to do this holy site and return to Aurangabad the same evening.
