Lying between Lonavla and Khandala, the Rajmachi Point is a must visit in the beautiful hill station. Two major forts comprise the fortification of Rajmachi—the Manaranjan Fort and the Shrivardhan Fort. Originally built by the Satvahanas, the forts were later captured by Shivaji from the Adilshahi Kings of Bijapur. In the 18th century, Mughal Emperor Aurangazeb seized the fort only to be regained by the Mughals. Surrounded by deep valleys on three sides and a thick forest on another, Rajmachi can be reached only on foot. Atop the Rajmachi point, one can take in panoramic views of the valley and also the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. To capture the beauty of the valley at its best, visit during monsoon, when the environs come to life with flora and fauna.
