To ensure your stay in Florence is absolutely perfect, here are four handy tips to always keep in mind:
1. If you're in the city for three days or more, pick up a Firenze Card. For EUR 50 you get free entry into all the big sights - Palazzo Vecchio, Uffizi Gallery, Medici Chapels etc - as well as free transport for 72 hours.
2. Save money on your morning coffee by ordering and drinking it at the bar, like the locals do - it's always cheaper than sitting at a table.
3. If you're going out to a nightclub, make sure you always keep your entrance ticket on you. You'll be required to show it when you leave and if you can't find it you may be subjected to an extortionate fine.
4. Many small cafes and restaurants outside the city centre (and some inside) will only accept cash payments, so make sure you always have a full wallet.
