In moments of crisis
Taipei is a relatively safe place to explore and the chances of being involved in an emergency are minimal. But keep the following tips in mind:
2. Taiwan is susceptible to earthquakes. If you happen to be in an earthquake, find protection in the corner of a room or under sturdy furniture. Wait until the shaking has subsided before evacuating the building.
3. If you have a medical emergency in Taiwan, it is often faster to take a taxi to the hospital than wait for an ambulance. Most hospitals have staff that can speak English. Hospitals do not take credit cards and you are expected to pay in cash for treatment on the same day you receive services.
