Sar Pass Trek

SIGHTSEEING, HIMACHAL PRADESH Updated : Jan 5, 2017, 03.27 PM IST

IMG_8337The Sar Pass Trek (4200 m) is Parvati range offers abundant adventure and is a moderate trek on the difficulty level for nature lovers. There are fabulous views of snow-clad mountains, pristine streams & rivulets all along the trek. Part of the trek in the lower altitude also goes through a rhododendron forest. It is a 5-7 day trek that traverses beautiful forests of Parvati Valley that begins in Kasol and ends near Pulga.

There is a small chance of AMS on the Sar Pass Trek and hence acclimatisation is essential. It is better to go on this multi-day trek with a group and a guide.

The first day of the trek starts from Kasol to Grahan Village. For the next two days, the trail climbs higher from 2300 m to Mig Thach (thach means meadow in Himachali), and is a gradual walk on mountain trails, while enjoying the picturesque valley. It then leads to Nagaru, where you gain altitude and are at approximately 3700 m. This trek is best attempted from June-September but there is always the possibility of snowfall and freak bad weather at altitudes over 4000 m.

The descent starts at Biskeri Thatch and is a steady downward path to Pulga village, which is impressively scenic and is also used as the base for trek to Kheerganaga. From Pulga, the road head of Barshaini is only a 30 minute walk and the trek ends.
