Established in 1933, the centrally located Connaught Place - or CP, as it's known - has long been the go-to destination for Delhi's upwardly mobile shoppers.Appearing as a giant circle on any city map, the area is ordered by its inner circle, outer ring and radial roads, making it relatively easy for the visitor to find addresses. The commerical heart of the cityNoteworthy for: Connaught Place was built by the British in the shape of a horseshoe, in the hope of bringing good luck to shoppers and shopkeepers.

Rajiv Chowk, one of Delhi's busiest Metro stations, is smack bang in the centre.
The area is often depicted in Bollywood blockbusters and has been home to many of Delhi's best-loved cinemas over the years. You'll also find Western-style shops and restaurants, Government emporiums and an underground, air-conditioned market, Palika Bazaar.
