Blackbuck National Park
Velavadar's Blackbuck National Park is home to these beautiful long-horned creatures, among others. The wildlife here is fascinating to say the least. Conversation programmes are ongoing for these majestic creatures, alongside wolves, and lesser floricans. The park is closed from June 15 to October 15, so plan your trip accordingly.
Gir National Park
One of the most exciting wildlife adventures in Gujarat, here at Gir National Park you come in close contact with lions. Particularly, the Asiatic Lions. There are 300 species of birds here, apart from other animals such as hyena, wildcat, leopard, and a lot more. A trip to Gir is always special and memorable.
Marine National Park
This national park on the Gulf of Kutch is home to many extraordinary wonders. The beautiful flamingoes for one, but there is a lot more to see. The park is surrounded by reefs, and has about 42 islands full of marine life. Sea anemones are found here, apart from Portuguese man of war, and other sea creatures.
Barda Wildlife Sanctuary
Located about 15 km away from Porbandar, Barda Wildlife Sanctuary is yet another beautiful wildlife destination in the state. The wildlife sanctuary is home to blue bulls, chinkara, blackbuck, among others. It also used to have a good population of Asiatic lions, which has now unfortunately declined.
Mitiyala Wildlife Sanctuary
Located close to the Gir National Park, Mitiyala is rustic experience, but is almost like an offshoot of Gir. This is also home to Asiatic lions, and can be visit by travellers. However, there was a time when this was part of the private estate of the royals. Graceful spotted deer can be seen roaming the wild here.
