Any journalist, author, writer or lover of words will be interested in visiting the Writers Museum in Edinburgh. Dedicated to celebrating the lives of three great Scottish writers, this museum features artifacts, rare books, portraits and personal items. The three writers features here are Robert Burns, Sir Walter Scott and Robert Louis Stevenson. The museum is housed in the historic Lad Stair’s House, built in 1622 and gifted to the city in 1907. The most treasured of things here include the printing press of Sir Walter Scott as well as his dining table and rocking horse along with one of three plaster casts of Robert Burns’s skull. The collections are displayed and sorted by author names, and visitors will delight in seeing possessions of each. Open Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM and on Sunday from 12 PM to 5 PM; there is no reason to skip ducking in here for a quick look around.
