If you wanted another reason to visit the Edinburgh Castle, it should be the National War Museum. Housed inside the castle walls is a collection of military artifacts and treasures. Stories are told through paintings, ceramics, uniforms, medals, weapons and more here. We suggest starting with the short film, which explains the history of Scottish military experience, and then moving onto the museum collections. Galleries tell the story of why so many Scots willingly joined the military and what their daily lives looked like. Currently, the museum has an exhibit that tells the story of the soldiers in the Royal Regiment of Scotland and what they have been doing over the past decade including peacekeeping and combat missions in places such as Iraq and Afghanistan. Entry to this museum is included with your Castle admission and is open seven days a week, throughout the year.
