If you want to know more about the city of Edinburgh itself, the museum of Edinburgh is the first place you should start. This museum is located inside the 16th century Huntly House, once called the speaking house because of the Latin inscriptions on the front of the building. Once inside, visitors will find a maze of historic rooms that feature many items from the capital’s past including collections of home artifacts, archaeology artifacts, Leith collections and working class items. The most prized possession in this museum is the original copy of the National Covenant, which was signed at Greyfriars Kirk in 1638. The museum is open Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturdays from 10 AM to 5 PM and on Sundays from 12 PM to 5 PM and has no entry fee.
