During the month of Ramzan, Mohammed Ali Road is Mumbai’s go-to destination for delicious meaty delicacies and sugary specials for those with a sweet tooth. Lined with food stalls on either side of the street, you can find all the signature dishes right here—from kebabs and biryani, to malpuas and ice cream. Everything is served fresh, and at extremely reasonable prices. Although all the stalls here are drool-worthy, be sure to make a pit-stop at some of these stalwarts that have garnered a reputation over the years. Favourites include the lamb nihari at Surati Barah Handi, the sanju baba chicken at Noor Mohammadi Hotel (it follows a secret recipe given by filmstar Sanjay Dutt), biryani at Shalimar, ice cream with chunks of fruit at Taj Ice Cream (having been around for over a century, it is a local favourite), malpuas at Fakhri Sweets and phirni at Suleman Usman.
