The restaurant has always been run by the Barbaro family, and in the early 1900s was a popular meeting place for artists, writers, intellectuals, and important people who donated the numerous artworks that still cover the walls today. More recent famous guests include Anthony Bourdain who also came here to try the speciality Risotto Buranello.
