Trattoria da Romano

Trattoria da Romano is a famous family-run fish restaurant located on the colourful island of Burano, about half an hour boat ride away from Venice. The island of Burano is a lovely day trip in itself, but the historic restaurant of da Romano is worth the trip to sample its famous fish risotto and to try typical, authentic, and traditional Venetian lagoon dishes, including fish cooked over a charcoal fire.

The restaurant has always been run by the Barbaro family, and in the early 1900s was a popular meeting place for artists, writers, intellectuals, and important people who donated the numerous artworks that still cover the walls today. More recent famous guests include Anthony Bourdain who also came here to try the speciality Risotto Buranello.
