La Cucina is the only fashionable, fine-dining, Italian-speciality restaurant in the city. Discreet entrance, contemporary interiors, signature Italian cuisine, interactive kitchen, an impressive wine list and many sit-down wine dinners — this more or less sums up La Cucina at Hyatt Regency Kolkata. Their offerings are exquisite and outstanding: Deep-fried Squid Ring, Shrimp, Beckti served with Saffron Mayonnaise, Mixed Mushroom Tossed in Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Parsley, Pizza with Tomato, Mozzarella, Spicy Salami and Onion, Prawn and Salmon Risotto with Cherry Tomato and Seafood Bisque, Salmon with Basil Potato Mash, Tomato, Caper and Olive Salsa, Roasted Fillet of Tenderloin with Garlic Potato Mash, Braised Cabbage and Rosemary Jus. While dining here actually is an acquired taste, La Cucina is one of the few places in the city which gives an international gourmet experience. True, it doesn’t come cheap, but then you are getting the best of ingredients (fresh and quality-wise) and home-style cooking: it is worth every penny.
