New Orleans is such a food-centric place that in addition to all the iconic big names, there are also endearing establishments that are tucked away and dish up a good meal to satiate the senses. Overlooked by the beloved chef Susan Spicer, a firm believer of slow food movement, Bayona is all about traditional Louisiana fare but with an element of creativity thrown in. Housed in a 200-year-old cottage, the restaurant takes influences from everywhere but relies on fresh local ingredients and Louisiana culture for its dishes. However, if you can eat only one dish, then opt without any doubt the veal shortbreads which are pan-fried and served with lemon caper or sherry mustard butter.
