Chicago is teaming with new and vibrant restaurants, hip bars and cafes. That being said, there are still some old classics who have been serving the people of Chicago for many years. One of those culinary institutions is Lou Mitchell’s Restaurant. Established 85 years ago, Lou Mitchell’s Restaurant has long been a must-see for all those visiting Chicago. The restaurant was initially opened in 1923 by “Uncle Lou’s” father who then passed it on to Lou. There is plenty of seating inside, and as well as out (weather permitting), with lots of booths and counter space depending on what you’re into. The classic diner decor matches the no fuss menu of diner classics. Breakfast is the most popular meal of the day, with all-day breakfast favourites ranging from the deep dish omelettes, bacon and eggs, to sweeter options like waffles and, of course, pancakes. Not a breakfast fan? No problem. There is also a range of tasty lunch specials from 11am – 3pm each day.
