Caffe Quadri, also known as Gran Caffe Quadri, is another famous and historic coffee shop situated in the picturesque Piazza San Marco. The ornate palace like atmosphere whisks guests back in time to Venice’s glory days in the 19th century.Quadri was the first place to bring Turkish coffee to Venice when it opened in 1638. Nowadays it attracts tourists with its fabulous location and heritage charm. As you’d expect from the location, it’s expensive, although cheaper than the Florian.
In the evenings, an orchestra entertains lovers who sip (pricey) cocktails out in the square, and enjoy the calm of Venice’s most glorious piazza. But one must be aware that like the Florian, each person has to pay an extra 6 Euro cover charge if you visit while the music is playing.
The café downstairs is also an elegant fine dining Michelin starred restaurant located on the first floor called Ristorante Quadri, which offers incredible views over the piazza and serves lavish Italian classics with modern twist.
