Stradun is said to be one of the world’s most enchanting streets. No wonder there are dozens of cafes and restaurants in the area. Café Orlando is conveniently situated next to Orlando’s Column, the famous monument in Luza Square. The column pays homage to Knight Orlando, who helped the residents of Dubrovnik defeat invaders during the 14th century. This, in turn, ensured Dubrovnik would stay a free-trade zone. Consequently, the monument is extremely important to the history of the city and greatly revered by locals and the Croatian Government. Besides being the symbol of liberty, Luza Square is also the location of Dubrovnik’s Summer Festival. As a result, Café Orlando’s location ensures you’re in the middle of action, irrespective of the time of year. Drinks are a bit more expensive due to the prime location of the cafe but its service makes up for it. The owner is usually around, talking to all the guests and serving them. The rest of the staff is amicable and warm. Try Café Orlando’s light lunch or just order coffee with their trademark cakes. Sit back, relax and soak in the hustle bustle of Dubrovnik.
