Murphy's is one of those places that has been around forever - 30 years - but always manages to stay fresh. It is essentially the cornerstone of the charming Virginia-Highland neighborhood, and literally marks the famous intersection. It has exposed brick walls, warm lighting, and an outdoor patio that's cozy no matter the season.

The food is described accurately as 'upscale comfort food', with favorite dishes including shrimp and grits, crab cakes, beef brisket, and 'bonzo' cake - a brownie and cheesecake combo. Desserts are legendary. The menu is simple but well-executed, consistent, and unpretentious. Plus, Murphy's has one of the most talked-about wine lists in the city.
