If Holeman and Finch is a gastropub, it's a very sophisticated one. On the left is a small, intimate space with communal tables and high-backed booths. On the right is a locker where meats are cured in-house, and beyond that is the speakeasy-style bar where bona fide mixology experts make specialty cocktails with a decidedly Prohibition-era flavor (read: plenty of gin, cognac, rye). A chic pub with a nose-to-tail philosophy and impeccably poured cocktails
Talk of the town: Chef-owner Linton Hopkins is also behind the renowned, more formal Restaurant Eugene next door.
On both sides you'll find small plates that are intended for sharing, and though it rotates, menu regulars worth trying include the chicken liver pate, the deviled eggs, and the carbonara. Warning: Vegetarians may struggle. Also, note that H&F doesn't take reservations.
