New Orleans’ congested food scene might seem like an unlikely place for star ventures but for one of its restaurant, it seems to make space. Celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse discovered his culinary talent quite early on and was aided by his French-Canadian and Portuguese family history. However, it was as the executive chef of the iconic Commander’s Palace that he came into his own and started Emeril’s, an upscale Cajun and Creole restaurant that specialises in New Orleans cuisine, and went on to win numerous awards. Dishes to look out for here include barbecued shrimp, boudin, escargot, Creole marinated calamari, oyster po’boy and pretzel bread pudding.
