If you’re tired of sites of crumbling industry and want something with a little more life, head to the Eastern Market that opens every weekend. Selling everything from cheap incense to pricey cheeses, the Eastern Market is always fun to explore. It’s a 4.5 acre festival of fresh produce, and also has random antiques, old-fashioned candy, hydroponic systems and much more. Weirdly (or perhaps not, considering the expensive cheeses) it’s one of the places in Detroit you’ll see majority of white faces, but Detroit’s racial politics are beyond my understanding. No matter what, it’s a cool place to visit, and some killer murals are around the area.
