Turgutreis has a narrow sandy beach on the Aegean, so close to the Greek island of Kos that you can see it off shore. The local restaurants look after the beach in front of them, kindly providing free sun loungers and staff serving on the beach, the assumption being that you're going to buy your drinks from the restaurant providing your sun lounger. Turgutreis town is a military town, with a preference for single storey buildings, and some good markets around the central local square, which is supposed to have some good restaurants.
