Situated on the banks of the Mississippi River in south-eastern Louisiana, New Orleans is famous for its French and Spanish Creole architecture, distinctive cuisine and jazz. The French Quarter is the city’s oldest neighborhood, and the historic and cultural heart of the city. Besides heritage buildings and landmark restaurants, you’ll also find galleries, boutiques and antique stories. In the city’s commercial hub Central Business District, skyscrapers and corporate towers stand alongside 19th-century buildings, and numerous museum and galleries constituting the arts district. Situated west of the Central Business District, Uptown has fashionable stores, restaurants and bars, while the Garden District boasts of picturesque architecture. Bohemian Marigny is packed with underground bars and clubs, music venues and art galleries; while the riverside Bywater has interesting bars and cafes too..
