The sweet cacophony of house sparrows with the strokes of morning dust sweep on the streets of this rustic town blending slowly into the surroundings with an ease that makes its essence a part and parcel of this place. Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh takes one to the charm of a small city where the ubiquitous milk is delivered at the doorsteps in utensils, where the locality sweet shops consisting of samosas, kachori and poha cater to the gourmet of morning breakfast and where the regular auto rickshaws with their blaring horns and dusty smoke rule the bylanes. For a wildlife connoisseur, this place offers amazing bio-diversity in the form of Kanger Valley National Park, which is the pride of this city. Numerous waterfalls grace the town and recently the tourism board of Chhattisgarh has come up with a resort on the banks of Chitrakoot Waterfall, which punches a million charm to revel in the majesty of this fall. Jagdalpur is well connected by rail and road and there are regular trains from Vishakhapatnam, Bhubaneshwar and Kirandul. The existing Howarh-Koraput Express has been extended till Jagdalpur in recent times. The nearest airport is in the capital city of Raipur.
