This might just be Sarnath’s most wonderful place for nature lovers, especially coming from the chaos of Varanasi. It has recently been opened after extensive renovation and the work done has been fabulous. The landscaping is incredibly beautiful and the manicured gardens, bonsai and calm and soothing aura inside the Garden of Spiritual Wisdom takes the visitor to an entirely different world.
There are clear and fabulous views of the Chaukhandi Stupa after you enter the garden. The garden uses a mix of exhibits and sculptures to convey the essentials of Buddhism. The staff inside the garden is very friendly and asks for suggestions as to how to spark an interest in the visitor to further explore the subject of spirituality.
There is a separate section for Ayurvedic herbal plants in the garden. Ayurveda system of traditional Indian medicine practices harmony with nature, simplicity and contentment as the key to well-being. The garden is a wonderful place to inhale fresh oxygen away from the hustle and bustle and also makes for a wonderful place to meditate.
There are benches installed at regular intervals that make for excellent stops in the huge complex. The best parts of the garden are the sit-outs beneath a big tree where you can meet fellow travellers and exchange travel experiences. Buddhism’s four noble truths and eightfold path are depicted in sculptures in the Garden of Spiritual Wisdom.
