The fields by the Talavera River, ‘Prati del Talavera’ in Italian language, is an area next to one of the two rivers passing through Bolzano, the other being the ‘Isarco’. Its wide green fields are a favourite gathering place during the warm spring days and at any time of the year it is not uncommon to see people jogging and doing sports in the recreational area.
Our suggestion is to take some time to visit this area and to sit in one of the benches to admire what is best viewpoint of Bolzano, with the Dolomites mountain ranges in the background, the city skyline, the vineyards and the castle. Following the promenade to the north along the Talavera River, and then going further through the paved road in the same direction, it’s possible to reach Runkelstein Castle.
