A beach is a perfect getaway to get ‘far from the madding crowd.’ If you harbor the same thoughts, then you would simply love to visit Ditch Plains Beach, New York. Located at the eastern end of Long Island, New York, this beach is known for its lighthouse (1796) and the nonchalant and casual surfers hanging out.
Surfers also flock here for reef break, which is considered to be ideal for long boarders. For this, you would require a wetsuit.
Montauk Point Lighthouse is also nearby, which is truly a picturesque sight.
Parking permit is also required and it is very difficult to secure a spot in the crowded days of summer. You would have to park at the public park of Shadmoor and then make your way through the trials. However, from October to May, no parking permit is required though.
Space is limited on the beach ever since the Hurricane Sandy and hence if you want more space to leisure around, summer is the time not to visit the beach.
