Now get fresh beer in UP as microbreweries finally make their way in

The Uttar Pradesh Government recently approved the setting up of micro-breweries in pubs, hotels, and resorts. With this move, the state government has paved way for restaurants and hotels for brewing and serving fresh beer to customers.
This also means that now Noida will have micro-breweries on the lines of Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Delhi. While this initiative will help boost tourism in Nodia, it will also help boost the excise revenue of the state as license for setting up such breweries has also been hiked.
Referring to this development, a spokesperson from the state government said that the decision was made to cater to the rising demands from hotels and restaurants, mainly in Ghaziabad and Noida. He also added that this move will help promote tourism and improve employment opportunities in the state. However, the practice would be implemented after UP Breweries Rules, 1961, is amended.
This time around those planning to set up micro-brewery plants will have to shell out 10 times the current license fee. As per the updated arrangement, a restaurant or a hotel intending to install a micro-brewery and serve fresh beer to their customers will now have to pay around INR 2.5 lakhs annually instead of INR 25000. The license can be renewed by paying around INR 2 lakh.
There is a catch here, and that this policy has a cap on serving unbottled beer. Therefore, as per the cabinet note, a hotel or a restaurant will have to limit serving up to 600 litres of fresh beer per day. Annually that number can go up to 2.10 lakh litre. And those violating these rules will have to dole out a fine of INR 5000 per day.
