Hopping on to the Thello Sleeper Train is a lot like flying on a magic carpet, or disapparating and apparating a la the world of Harry Potter. You will, after all, bid adieu to the most romantic city in the world only to wake up in yet another city of love. Out of all night trains in Europe, this one is supposed to be par excellence although somewhat expensive, and a large number of people boarding this railway service are enough proof of that fact. Departing from Gare de Lyon in Paris at around 7 in the evening, the Thello runs along the mighty Alps and pristine lakes in order to bring you to the City of Canals. During your journey, you can treat yourself to some delicious French and Italian fare and several glasses of wine, as a matter of course. Sleeping is optional but highly recommended as you save on hotel bills and get a chance to explore Venice in the early hours of the morning, much before the swarm of tourists arrive.
