An elephant crossing Amber Fort's courtyard
This is one of those classic shots of Amber's Fort that have captured the fancy of photographers for decades. The grand fort overlooks Maota Lake, and is one of India's most majestic monuments. When here, you cannot help but marvel at India's royal past.
Sunset over Thar Desert
Jaisalmer's Thar Desert gets delightful in winters and the sunset colours everything golden. When here, you can go on a desert safari in the evening for sights like this. A number of luxury camps can also be booked for a memorable stay here.
Grandeur of Mehrangarh Fort
Jodhpur's Mehrangarh Fort is one of the most majestic forts in India and is very well-preserved too. You can pore over the entire Blue City and the white-marbled Jaswant Thada from its top. In monsoons, the views are nothing less than glorious.
Rabari tribeman in the desert
Rabari is an indigenous tribal community of nomadic cattle herders and shepherds. Among other crafts, they are rightly famous for their embroidery arts, and you can find souvenirs made out of these in all the major markets of Rajasthan.
This is one classic photograph of a Rabari man with his camel in the desert.
A tiger by the lake in Sawai's Ranthambore National Park
If there is one thing grander than all the forts, palaces and royals of Rajasthan, it's the jungles of this state. Here, you will find some of the most majestic animals including the famous Bengal tigers, leopards, bisons, a variety of antelopes, jackals and more.
This photograph is from Sawai Madhopur's Ranthambore Nationa Park & Tiger Reserve, famous with wildlife photographers from across the world.
Legends of Chittorgarh Fort
Chittorgarh Fort is one of the famous hill forts of the state and is also a UNESCO site. It's famous for legends related to the Siege of Chittorgarh, when Delhi Sultanate ruler Alauddin Khalji had to wait for eight months before he could win over the fort.
The epic poem, Padmavat, is also woven around the siege though most historians have rejected the authenticity of the legend.
Just another day at Udaipur's Lake Pichola
This is one of the picture postcards of Udaipur that shot the city to fame. You can go boating here on most days; the evening boat rides here are a dreamy affair, especially in winters, when the sun is about to set.
Postcards from Pushkar Camel Fair
Pushkar Camel Fair is the largest fair of animals in the world and is a hub of photographers from all over the world. Shots like this are an everyday affair at the fair and you would perhaps see Rajasthan's rawest, most colourful side here.
