Moderate to heavy snowfall in Kashmir from January 19

The meteorological department has predicted moderate to heavy snowfall in Kashmir, starting January 19. The current weather conditions in Jammu-Kashmir are already severe, with a number of regions receiving moderate to heavy snowfall. It is expected that Srinagar will be shrouded under fresh snow on Friday and Saturday, and more on January 20 and 23. Moreover, many regions in Jammu recorded sub-zero temperature, while Kashmir is also being hit by the cold.

As per the reports, more than 20 flights were at the Srinagar airport after more snowfall on Wednesday.
It is predicted that the said disturbance would cause heavy snowfall in the upper, remote reaches of the state, also effecting the Ladakh region. The continuing cold in the state and surrounding regions will also affect more states including Punjab, Haryana, UP and Delhi.

Apart from Jammu and Kashmir, the hill states of Himachal and Uttarakhand would also see moderate to heavy snowfall. The same disturbance is expected to hit the plains as well, with forecasts of rain in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan. Other than rain, a dense fog cover will be sweeping over the surrounding regions. Uttar Pradesh might also see scattered rains owing to the same disturbance.

While local life has been hit by the cold wave, it is also expected to woo more tourists to the state. The number already saw a surge with skiing enthusiasts flocking to its Alpine slopes. Most of the ski resorts in the region are booked as well. Needless to mention, this is the perfect to plan a trip to the state if you have been waiting to have a snow vacation.
