Noteworthy for: With land commanding prices of up to INR 100,000 per square foot, Malabar Hill is one of India's most expensive suburbs.

Looming over Chowpatty Beach at the north end of Marine Drive, Malabar Hill is the most prestigious address in Mumbai. Ruled by Silhara kings during the first century, this prime address was turned over to the British East India Company by a Muslim trading tycoon in the 19th century. Post British Raj, prominent government officials, business tycoons and Bollywood stars moved in.
Sweeping views across Chowpatty and Back Bay are the key draws, along with the Kamala Nehru Gardens, Hanging Gardens and Walkeshwar Temple, the oldest standing structure in the city. This seriously upscale neighbourhood is also the perfect place to check out some of Mumbai's fancier residential architecture juxtaposed against grand, colonial-era buildings.
