Yercaud

Yercaud is a Tamil word meaning ‘Lake Forest’, quite apt for this hill town which is beautifully nestled amidst Shevaroy Hills in Tamil Nadu at an elevation of 4970 ft. This breathtakingly stunning place is around 350 km from Chennai and is considered as one of the prime jewels of the South. The entire region is enveloped by dark and thick forests and is popular for its orange groves, coffee and spice plantations. There’s also a gorgeous lake right in the middle of the town, which adds to its natural splendour. When in Yercaud, you simply can’t miss out on visiting the highest point of the hill town which is the Servarayan Temple. From this point, you can take in some gorgeous views of the surrounding hills and green forests. Kiliyur Falls, Anna Park, Lady’s Seat, Gents Seat and Sankagiri Fort are the other tourist hotspots of Yercaud.
