The mild Mediterranean climate of the Lake Maggiore region and the steepening inclines of the lower alps of Piedmont make glorious gardening conditions and the villas set on the lakes jagged shore line are known for the rare and exotic botanicals they grow. What has long been classified a ‘pleasant clime’ has been attracting visitors for almost as long to the many pretty towns and resorts that dot it’s shores.
