Cutting-edge art in a striking modern building
This well-maintained gallery offers a concise overview of Malaysian modern art and also showcases selected work from South-East Asia and further afield. There are three levels, each accessible from the building's central spiral staircase: the first floor houses a permanent collection of Malaysian work, the second level is used for temporary exhibitions of private collections, and the third floor focuses on emerging Asian artists.
Malaysia's tourism authority does not heavily promote the gallery, so you're unlikely to be competing with large crowds if you visit. There is no public transport in the direct vicinity, but taxi drivers will happily make the trip from central locations.
