India’s most tricky and dangerous beaches
India is a land of diverse landscapes and pretty shores! The country boasts an extensive coastline and many of its beaches are renowned for their pristine beauty. But there are some beaches in India that are (in) famous as dangerous, tricky and have a treacherous allure.
Let’s have a look at some of the most dangerous beaches in India:
Radhanagar Beach, Andamans
Regarded as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Radhanagar is known for its strong rip currents during certain seasons. These can catch swimmers off guard. Therefore, visitors are advised to stay within designated safe zones and be cautious of changing tide conditions.
Arambol Beach, Goa
Arambol Beach, though gorgeous, can be deceivingly hazardous! The beach features a rocky terrain, and the Arabian Sea's strong currents make it challenging for swimmers. In addition, the presence of hidden underwater rocks requires extra caution. Tourists should be aware of the specific swimming areas marked by lifeguards, especially during the monsoon season.
Yarada Beach, Andhra Pradesh
Yarada Beach is located near Visakhapatnam. This pristine beach is surrounded by lush hills. But the strong riptides make it one of the most dangerous beaches in India. Swimmers are advised to stay close to the shores.
Kappad Beach, Kerala
Kappad Beach is noted for being the landing site of Vasco da Gama in 1498. This beach in Kerala is also known for its strong currents and sudden drops in the seabed can pose challenges for swimmers.
Dumas Beach, Gujarat
Dumas Beach in Gujarat is one of the most mysterious beaches in the country. The beach is believed to be haunted, and locals are scared to venture too far into the water. While not dangerous in a conventional sense, the paranormal aspect of this beach makes it a little unique.
Parasailing at Kovalam
On the southwestern tip of India in Kerala is Kovalam. The place is noted for its pretty shaped beaches, including the Hawa Beach. This beach is known for its strong waves and high tides and can catch even experienced swimmers off guard. Local authorities advise visitors to beware during monsoon season.
Om Beach, Gokarna
Om Beach in Gokarna is set along the western coast of Karnataka and is known for its symbolic shape resembling the Hindu symbol 'Om'. But beneath the calm waves lies a strong undertow. Swimmers and surfers are advised to be cautious.
