This is relatively a new church, constructed in early 19th century. It is dedicated to the first king of Hungary St Stephen 1. This is the largest church in Budapest and the Neo Classical dome of the church can be seen from far away. This is the tallest building in Budapest along with Hungarian Parliament which can be spotted from the elevation of Fishermen’s Bastion. As per the regulation, no other building in the city can be taller than the church. The interiors of the church are beautifully decorated with frescos, paintings and stained glass decors. One of the bell towers holds the largest bell in Hungary. The grand staircase inside is a highlight of the church which take you to the observatory deck from where you can enjoy the panorama of Budapest from Pest side of the city. The church is well known for classical music organ concerts which are held inside the church throughout the year. If you happen to be in Budapest on New Year’s Eve, do not miss the midnight mass, the largest in Hungary!
